Oh these are great! There are no signs of roads, and something about them really gives you that sensation of being in the middle of nowhere.
I went looking for pictures of Lappland, and thought to check Flickr! I found this group. There are so many pictures that I just gave up picking out all the decent ones. Here are a few though that caught my eye:

Here's a Siberia/Far East pool, and a Trans-Siberian pool, look look!
frozen river and some people from the area. Tuvan throat singers from Southern Siberia, closer to Mongolia. Here's a ton of illustrations of warriors from Central Asia (Huns). On ethnic groups, a Mansi village and kids, Khanty kids, some Ket people, and some Nenet People, since pictures of Russians and Finns are no problem to find :)
